Sidney had been employed as a machine tender by Westvaco, retiring with forty-three years of service. Mr. Oliver was a charter member of Calvary Christian Church where he served his church as a former elder, deacon and other capacities. He was a life member of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Sidney enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, gardening and working with Boy Scout Troop 9 for a number of years. Mr. Oliver is survived by four children, Rena Oliver Claytor and husband, Rick of Fredericksburg, Sidney Thomas “Tom” Oliver of Clifton Forge, James M. Oliver and wife, Diane of Knoxville, TN and Roger D. Oliver and wife, Dixie of Natural Well; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and special friend and neighbor, Viola Cronin.
